The Group and CSR

Since acquiring BRFkredit, Jyske Bank has merged two companies, each with their own history, to find a common foundation for working with CSR.

All companies have their own unique history and values that form the basis for their business processes and everyday operations. The challenge of working together on company history and values also applies, of course, to Jyske Bank and BRFkredit.  Fortunately, however, there are far more values that tie the two companies together than separate them. Therefore, the task of establishing a joint approach to CSR became both an exciting and fun task.  Because the most important thing was already in place: A keenness among management, employees and stakeholders to take a responsible approach.

BRFkredit – a long and successful CSR history

As early as the 1970s, the telephones at BRFkredit were being manned by employees who were either blind or visually impaired.  So, long before it became a trend, the company was exercising social responsibility.  However, it was not until the late 1990s that BRFkredit started to work strategically with CSR in a wider societal context.  In its capacity as a mortgage provider, BRFkredit wanted to focus its attention on property, both commercial property as well as non-profit housing associations, in order to improve the lives of citizens/residents. The vision was to create local partnerships, and through them to boost well-being as well as the image of the various neighbourhoods. Since 1999, this has resulted in countless projects all over Denmark, where successes have been followed by new initiatives, and all with the same focus: to beautify residential areas and improve the lives of the residents.

Jyske Bank

Jyske Bank has also been working with CSR for a number of years,  primarily by striving to run a responsible business.  However, Jyske Bank has also been involved in many social projects, which is evident from the fact that, since 2004, the bank has been the main sponsor of Sportscar Event, which raises money each year for the Danish Children’s Cancer Foundation.  At a local level, Jyske Bank has worked to promote CSR through its individual branches, where collaboration with local associations has helped to improve the general well-being of people living in the area.  Finally, Jyske Bank has also been working with a non-profit foundation, which has strengthened Jyske Bank’s social profile.
