Our history

Jyske Bank A/S was founded on 7 July 1967 following the merger of four banks in Central Jutland. The four local banks dated back to the mid 19th century, and the merger fulfilled their ambition of consolidating their competitive position within the Danish financial sector.

In the course of the following years, another three local banks joined the group.

Nationwide in 1981

With the takeover of Finansbanken in 1981, Jyske Bank became a nationwide bank. Jyske Bank also took over Finansbanken's international private banking activities. In 1983 and 1989, Jyske Bank merged with another two Danish banks.
